The county of Pembrokeshire is fast becoming a well trodden path for tourists and it boasts many picturesque towns. Milford Haven is far from the most picturesque but has its own charms nonetheless. It is the largest town in the county in terms of population and it is known for its very deep natural harbour. It is this deep water channel running up the haven which has allowed the town to benefit from various different economies over the decades.
Up until its more recent history fishing and in particular whaling formed the bulk of the town's economy. The Milford haven fish market was known for many miles around and was a very popular social gathering but for various reasons the fishing industry declined and the trawlers disappeared.
During 1960's a new economy emerged based around the energy sector. The employment went through the roof and the various oil refineries and power stations have been a major source of work ever since. Only now are things starting to look like they may be changing a little. The old Texaco refinery has had so many refits that they must be wondering how long they can carry on patching it up!
There are still some other major energy players in the town however. Fairly recently a massive natural gas storage and pumping plant was built providing many locals with fantastic work prospects for the short term. A number of local people benefited hugely from this development and many have been able to retire as a direct result!
Pembrokeshire receives many thousands of tourists every year and Milford haven is a popular "base camp". You can pick up the world renowned Pembrokeshire coast path from the town and it's very easy to spend many days walking around this beautiful coastline. You will find numerous guest houses and hotels in the town and the pricing is very reasonable compared to some of the more picturesque towns you can choose.
If you're into your watersports then Milford haven is definitely where you want to be. With plenty of surf shops and other watersports outlets you're bound to find what you're looking for if you need to hire some kit and get out there on the waves!
If you're looking for a property to rent in milford haven then you may have had a little difficulty currently. There seems to be a bit of a lack of available rental properties in the town at the moment. Having said that we do know of a very nice property in Hakin which has two decent sized bedrooms and A smaller bedroom. There is a decent sized bathroom upstairs and plenty of storage in the loft space.
Downstairs you have a large through room as the living room and diner with the kitchen located at the back of the property leading out to a large garden which actually has views over the water way - a very desirable feature.
So whether you are from out of town working in Milford Haven and you need a place to stay or maybe you are a local who needs a nice place to live then you can do a lot worse than checking out this property.
